House Chair message
The pool did well with all the covid-19 restrictions. We managed to control the algae infestation that happened during the winter. We bought a new stainless steel night cover stand to replace one old one that had rusted through. This stand should serve the pool for many decades. We bought a new winter cover that was installed by the vendor at the end of the season. Edge reinforcements will be sewn on next summer. See you for a better season next year.
President’s message
Greetings Members,
We all have made it through a very difficult and unpredictable pool season in 2020. Thank you all for your continued support. As we plan for next year please take a look at the Treasurer's report to understand the financial burden that we all carry. The board has voted to increase the assessment to $500 and hope to keep that consistent for a few years if possible. There is also an increase in the new membership fee to $500. See membership updates for more details. This is all aimed at keeping the pool a viable and valuable community resource for years to come. Our membership and employment board members are switching places and we are looking for one more member at large to serve with us on the board. If you are interested in any board position please let a board member know.
Thank you all again for your personal interest in this private, members only club. We cannot exist without your support. Have a great winter and we will see you at the pool next year!
Very Respectfully,
Jeremy Best

Treasurer Chair message
This was quite an unpredictable year for BMPA, and we certainly appreciate the patience and support of our members. Without you, this community resource will cease to exist! To summarize the Year End numbers included in this newsletter, income was lower while expenses remained nearly the same as anticipated (with the exception of payroll).
BMPA must work to increase liquid assets for large renovations such as replastering the pool (estimated to be over $100,000) as well as ensure that there are funds in reserve for normal costs such as maintenance. The assessment will increase to $500 for 2021 ($455 base assessment plus the $45 work deposit).
Even with the challenges of this year, I enjoyed working with the BMPA board, staff, and patrons, and look forward to seeing everyone again next summer.

Membership Chair message
For the previous two years I have been the Employment Board Member. I have always worked closely with the Membership Board Member, Amelia Epperson and we decided to switch roles in our support of the Pool for the coming 2021 year.
As our BMPA President explained, this was an unprecedented year for the pool ESPECIALLY where memberships were concerned! Because of COVID-19 the pool use was limited and that created confusion where memberships are concerned. This is a PRIVATE pool and memberships are required for the considerable operating costs each year. In spite of a tough season, as members, we are still required to pay our annual membership even if pool use is limited. This past season however, only slightly over 75% of our members actually paid their memberships which caused considerable hardship for the pool even in the limited way pools were allowed to operate. We are with you though and are all hoping for a better year in 2021!!
We have new memberships available and Barranca Pool memberships are a HOT commodity! We welcome new members in 2021. The assessment for 2021 is $500 and a new membership fee is a one-time “buy in” of an additional $500; one could also rent for $100 plus the annual assessment.
Both memberships and rentals can be done on our new BMPA website complete with online payment at https://www.barrancapool.com/ The membership forms can also be printed and mailed to Barranca Pool, PO Box 4, Los Alamos, NM 87544. If you have questions or need assistance of any kind, please email at Membership@barrancapool.com
We look forward to the new pool season and meeting our newest members!
Sincerely, Nina Epperson
Employment Chair message
BMPA had a wonderful crew this past summer. They worked hard and adjusted, sanitized nonstop, followed protocols, and readjusted when needed. They didn't have guaranteed hours and knew the summer would be cut short and still showed up and gave it their all. BMPA board is extremely proud of them! I only saw a snapshot of what they did and I am SO excited to work with them fully the Summer of 2021.Recruitment for Summer 2021 employees will begin November of 2020.
