President’s Message

Members of Barranca Mesa Pool,

Members of Barranca Mesa Pool:

Once again, the board is preparing for the upcoming summer season. I think we are all looking forward to some time in the water this year.

Want to help keep our pool vibrant and viable? Please consider volunteering, either by joining the board or
helping on a committee (maintenance, gardening, snack bar, etc.). The question often comes up whether board members are compensated for their time. Per our bylaws, all members of the pool (board members included) must pay the same assessment. Nevertheless, we do still find satisfaction in keeping our community resource running each year! Interested? Contact a board member directly or send us an email
at board@barrancapool.com.

Spread the word about our pool, and help to increase our membership with all of your friends! We have been
receiving many inquiries about renting or purchasing a membership already, and still have several memberships available.

See you at the pool soon,

Jeremy Best
President, BMPA

Assessment News for 2025

Please note: BMPA must have all forms/waivers with your assessment each year. Download and print them fromour website to mail in with a check to P.O. Box 4, Los Alamos NM 87544 or complete it all online here.

$575 annual assessment by 30 April ($500 base plus $75 work deposit)
$600 annual assessment 1 May and beyond ($525 base plus $75 work deposit)

$50 yearly fee to rent a membership from the pool
$100 one-time fee to purchase a new membership from the pool

Due to complications of tracking guest passes (and some abuse when using them), the board voted in October topause out-of-town guest passes indefinitely. Each family's membership will still include 15 guest passes to beused. Bringing more guests? Each person is just $5 when checking in at the front desk.

Your work deposit is refundable with participation at a work party or volunteering throughout the season. Three to four hours is all we ask (although we love all help, and certainly will not turn down more time)! We plan to hold the first Spring work party on 26 April beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the second Spring work party on 4 May beginning at 8:00 a.m. It’s a great opportunity to learn how the pool operates as well as meet other members. Also, we will be collecting forms/checks and assisting with membership purchases/rentals at the work parties.

Swim lessons

Group lessons will be Red Cross program but we will offer 1 week classes again this year, and alternate AM and PM options. Classes will have a main instructor and a helper, up to 8 kids per class.

Planned but tentative dates:
Session 1: June 16 to 20 (mornings)
Session 2: June 23 to June 27 (evenings)
Session 3: July 7 to July 11 (mornings)
Session 4: July 14 to July 18 (evenings)
Session 5: July 28 to August 1 (mornings)

Cost:
$30 per child per session for members/renters
$60 per child per session for non-members.

Lesson sign-ups will be online, and likely, in person at the pool the weekend prior to the session starting. If less than 5 children are registered for a class, the class will be canceled.

Private lessons: For one on one teaching, reach out to a staff member to arrange a private lesson. Pricing varies but is ~$20/30 min lesson.
