FAQs
When will the pool open?
We are following guidelines from the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED, who issues permits for public swimming pools). The latest guidance is that we must remain closed through 15 May. If restrictions are lifted, our work party will be on 16 May and the pool will open Memorial Day weekend as usual. We are considering modifications to the work party, including specific scheduled volunteer time slots over multiple days.
If the pool does not open according to the posted schedule, when will my assessment fee be due?
The assessment fee must be received by the day of the opening work party in order for volunteers to be eligible for their work deposit refund.
If the pool opening is delayed two weeks, a month, or longer, will my assessment fee be reduced or refunded?
We must balance fixed operating costs (i.e., rent, insurance, utilities, etc.) with our reduced time to enjoy the pool. We are working on an answer to this question.
What if I cannot afford the assessment fee this year?
Please let someone on the Board know if you need to set up a payment plan. If you are unable to pay your assessment fee this summer or are no longer interested in being a member, please consider renting or selling your membership (refer to the Membership Policy).
Can the COVID-19 virus be spread through swimming pools?
Per the CDC, there is no evidence COVID-19 virus can be spread to humans through the use of pools. Proper operation of pools includes disinfection with chlorine and this should inactivate the virus. Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of all our swimmers, if you or someone in your family is ever not feeling well, please stay home.
When will I know more?
Once we have the go-ahead from NMED, we will send an all-member e-mail and post information on our website about the opening work party as well as our anticipated pool schedule. We will follow all state guidelines regarding maximum number of people gathered at a time, modifications to our sanitizing protocol, etc. Currently, those guidelines have not been published and the Board is doing our best to plan this season with the limited information we have been given.
